To recap, here is the write up from my photo post a couple of weeks ago:

A couple of weekends ago I went on a diving boat trip to Anacapa Island with my girlfriend. Our trip was aboard the Spectre out of Ventura. You can find out information on the boat schedule here.

Anacapa can be found on the right hand side of the map. The dive flags do not accurately represent our dive sites. Due to some rough water, we moved around to a couple of different locations.

The trip started at about 7:30am with an hour boat ride out to our first dive site. Our dives went about as deep as 50/feet with visibility at about 30-35 feet. Between the 3 dives we saw a fair amount of wildlife including Garibaldi, Spider Crabs and a Seal. The most beautiful part though was the kelp. Swimming through the slowly waving forests of towering Kelp strands was truly a unique experience. Our second dive was at a site called Under Water Island which features a large rocky area in a sea of sand. From these rocks grew large amounts of kelp and the invasive Sargassum. It was incredibly beautiful navigating the various kelp and rock canyons over the duration of our 40 minute dive. All together we spent around 2 hours underwater enjoying the undersea wildlife of Southern California. You will notice on the list that there was a 4th dive. We did not dive this last one due to how exhausting the rest of the day had been, so we enjoyed our time getting some sun before returning back to Ventura at sunset.
